FAME 2010 Showcases Fashion that Works for Women
Crescendo Apparel Debuts Spring/Summer Collection on The Illinois Institute of Art – Chicago Runway

Chicago, IL – Kathryn McKechnie had a goal in mind when she graduated with a BFA in Fashion Marketing & Management from The Illinois Institute of Art – Chicago. Today that goal is a reality known to many as Crescendo Apparel, a label created for women with small waists and full hips who struggle to find stylish clothes that fit off the rack.

On March 10, Crescendo Apparel is set to debut its spring/summer collection at the Fashion and Media Extravaganza (FAME). While the event – hosted by The Illinois Institute of Art – Chicago – focuses on the best in current student work, the college also highlights recent grads who are starting successful careers in the fashion industry.

McKechnie, the founder and president of Crescendo Apparel, hired Kristen Burger, a fellow fashion design student from The Illinois Institute of Art – Chicago who serves as the company’s principal designer and production manager. McKechnie says she founded the design house to give women access to the chic clothing they always loved in theory but were forced to avoid in practice. Her collection allows women the opportunity to expand their style options while sticking to timeless, classic cuts.

FAME 2010 will be held at The Harris Theater for Music and Dance at 205 E. Randolph. The March 10 day fashion show starts at noon, the night show is at 8 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at the Harris Theater box office, www.harristheaterchicago.org. A portion of proceeds from ticket sales goes to the college’s student scholarship fund.
